We Love Reading!

We really enjoyed our reading for pleasure day today. The theme was non fiction.

We started our day by exploring the non fiction books in our classroom and the fascinating one about the brain donated to us by the wonderful Bookmark Charity.

Next, we focused on our Animal Teams book and created a poster in our pairs using our teamwork skills.

Finally, we enjoyed exploring the non fiction books in our wonderful school library. We didn’t want to leave!

Have a lovely weekend 3ZY, see you on Monday!

We are geologists!

This week we have been busy looking at the properties of rocks. We used our curiosity to explore the different types and then grouped them according to their hardness, colour, streak and lustre. We displayed brilliant team work skills and really enjoyed our first lesson in Year 3!

In our English lessons we have been focusing on nouns, do you remember what the three types we have been learning are?

Here is a song to help you remember:

We first focused on common nouns, then proper nouns and finally collective nouns. We wrote a tweet using all three types of nouns!

Can you recognise any of the nouns in the sentence below:

Mrs Downs loves reading our class blog every Saturday morning but not as much as she enjoys visiting Umberslade farm and seeing the herd of cows.

Welcome Back!

What an amazing first week it has been 3ZY! I have really enjoyed teaching you, especially seeing your smiley faces every morning!

This week we have been busy immersing ourselves in our English sessions which have been inspired by one of my favourite books, ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt.

We focused like eagles and created our own crayons and role played being them. What a fun way to start the year!

In our art sessions we have been learning about Primary and Secondary colours and different painting techniques artists use. We really enjoyed working as a team and mixing the colours this afternoon, despite the mess!

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday!
